The Prusa i3 (iteration 3) is the
newest and current 3D Printer design by RepRap Core Developer
Prusajr. The i3 incorporates lessons learned from the previous two
Prusa designs, as well as other popular modern RepRap designs.
The following is a list of the main improvements made upon the
Prusa Mendel Iteration 2
enhanced frame rigidity (prevents
parametric files for multiple sizes/bearings or bushings
The Prusa i3 uses, including the extruder, 5 NEMA17 stepper
motors. Two of these motors, the Z axis motors, are connected to the
same stepper driver of the electronics. If using Wade's Extruder, its
stepper motor needs a minimum holding torque of 40Ncm (0.4Nm) which
This kit contains a Megatronics board with all stepperdrivers
(Stepstick A4988) included and you can connect the steppermotors
easily on the board.
Megatronics has a powerful Atmega2560
processor with 256 kB memory, running at 16Mhz. The board can be
connected to a PC using a normal USB cable. It will register as FTDI
FT232R device. The board is compatible with the Arduino Mega 2560 and
will therefor be easily programmed from the Arduino IDE.

LCD support Hooking up a LCD is pretty easy.
The Wiring is compatible with most LCD screens.
Five MOSFETs The
board has 4 MOSFETs (4x 25A) to support fans and extruders and 1
MOSFET (IRLS3034PBF) for the heated bed
Up to 6 stepper
with RAMPS, 6 slots for stepper drivers (not included). Modularized
to make replacement easy for damaged drivers.
Support for many
board's functions can be easily extended with LCD, keypad etc. See
