The HIPS filament is a premium engineering thermoplastic that can be used to create 3D models and is also a great support material for ABS filament. The HIPS filament by BASF allows makers to create elaborate ABS models with as many overhangs and bridges as needed. Place the printed model in a tub of d'limonene to dissolve the HIPS filament support structures with ease. The filament material has great impact resistance and dimensional stability and is therefore also a good choice for making certain 3D parts with a matte finished look that can also undergo post-processing. HIPS filament models can be sanded and glued. Furthermore, the smooth finish of the printed object allows convenient painting.
Perform successful 3D prints with the Ultrafuse HIPS filament at an extruder temperature of 240°C-260°C and with a heated bed temperature between 100°C-120°C. It is advised to use an adhesive spray like 3DLAC for successful first-layer adhesion. We recommend printing the BASF Ultrafuse HIPS filament at a print speed of 40-80 mm/sec. Please perform your 3D printing in a well-ventilated area.
