The main difference between resin 3D printers and filament 3D printers is the printing technology. FDM/FFF 3D printers use thermoplastics known as filament to print objects whereas SLA, DLP and LCD resin 3D printers use photosensitive liquid resin to form 3D models.
DLP stands for Digital Light Processing and uses a projector to flash an image of the 3D object’s layers which are cured one at a time. SLA is Stereolithography and converts resin into 3D objects with a UV light laser beam. DLP 3D printers tend to print at a faster printing speed in comparison to SLA 3D printers.
The main difference is that SLA 3D printers use a laser beam to cure resin while DLP technology uses a projector to solidify layers. LCD 3D printers use LCD screens or LED arrays to cure the resin with the same pixel method that DLP 3D printers use. Keep in mind that not all resins are compatible with the different printings methods.
Very small objects like a piece of lego can be printed within 4-10 minutes. The printing time will depend on the complexity and detail, the type of resin being used, and the light intensity of the printer. SLA resin 3D printers take more time to produce objects in comparison to FDM 3D printers. However, DLP and LCD resin 3D printers do print faster than FDM 3D printers.
Firstly protect yourself with gloves and remove the vat from the resin 3D printer. Pour the resin from the vat through a filter into a resin bottle. Wipe any residue from the vat and FEP film lightly with a paper towel. A paper towel with rubbing alcohol can be used for a final wipe to ensure a very clean vat, ready for the next print.
